Rights, sharing & takedowns

What you own, what you agree to when you release a song, and how to get something removed. Written to be read, not to be impressive.

Last updated October 5, 2026. What we collect and how to delete it lives in the Privacy Policy.

This page is the short version. It is not legal advice and it is not a substitute for a lawyer.MashKey is made by Sthetic Creative Group, LLC. Questions: support@mashkey.com. Privacy: privacy@mashkey.com. Copyright notices: dmca@mashkey.com.

Your work stays yours

Everything you make here is yours: your takes, your lyrics, your keyboard parts, your arrangements. MashKey claims no ownership of it.

Your songs are private until you release them: a draft opens in the studio for you alone. A recorded take is stored as an audio file at a long, unguessable address, so it is never listed anywhere public — but anyone who comes across that exact link can play it. Treat the link as the private part.

What you confirm before you release

Releasing a song puts it in the public gallery, so you confirm that:

  • ·The vocals, lyrics and parts are yours, or you have permission from whoever owns them.
  • ·You are not using anyone else’s copyrighted recording, melody, or lyric without permission.
  • ·Anyone else who performs on it — a singer, a player — has agreed to it being published.
  • ·You are not impersonating another artist or claiming someone else’s work.

MashKey’s own sounds — the keyboards, drums and loops built into the app — are generated by the app and are safe to use in what you release.

Other people’s voices and performances

A voice recording is personal information, and in some places it is protected much more strongly than that. Before you record anyone other than yourself, get their clear permission — and their permission to publish it, if you plan to.

Do not record someone without telling them, do not publish a performance you were asked to keep private, and do not use anyone’s voice to make it sound like they said or sang something they didn’t.

Every sound you add to a keyboard’s Voice Kit — recorded or uploaded — asks you to confirm first that you made it or have the rights to use it. We keep a record of that confirmation with the sound, so a report about it can be checked against what you agreed to.

Remixes and credit

When you remix a public song, the original is never changed and stays credited on your version, and your version links back to it so listeners can hear both. Your own additions to a remix are yours; the original artist’s parts stay theirs.

If you release a remix, the original artist can ask for it to be taken down, and the same rules above apply — you still need the rights to whatever you add.

Every release — a Studio track, a Song Lab song, or a remix of either — asks you to tick “This is mine to release” first. We keep a record that you confirmed it. A remix never inherits the original creator’s confirmation; you confirm your own version.

Mixing, stems and exported files

The mixer — level, pan, and the low, mid and high bands of a part’s EQ — changes your own copy of a song. It never alters the original, and it is heard, saved, and printed in your downloads, your mastered mixdown and your stem files the same way.

A stem export is one WAV file per part. Your own takes, keys and hummed layers in those files are yours to use as you like. In a remix, whatever came from the original artist stays theirs, whichever file it arrives in — exporting is not a licence to use someone else’s material, and nothing about the release checks changes when you export.

Song insights

Song insights (the energy curve, the climax marker, the “best 15 seconds” clip and the fade and trim suggestions) are worked out automatically, in your own browser, from the notes and timing of the version on your screen. Nothing about your song is sent to us or to anyone else to make them, and no AI model is involved. When you remix something, insights are re-read for your version as you change it — never copied from the original — and shown once more before you publish.

They are creative suggestions only: not professional, legal or commercial advice, and no promise of how a song will sound, chart or perform. Nothing changes unless you tap Apply, every applied edit can be undone, and what you publish is your decision. Insights don’t give MashKey any rights in your song and don’t change who owns it.

You can turn Song insights off at any time from the panel itself or in Settings → Song insights; the choice is saved on this device.

What releasing gives MashKey

By releasing a song you give MashKey permission to host it, stream it, show it in the gallery and map, and let other signed-in players hear and remix it — inside this app only. That permission is non-exclusive (you can post the same song anywhere else), doesn’t transfer ownership, and ends when you unpublish or delete the song.

You keep your copyright. Nothing here lets MashKey sell your song or hand it to a third party.

The rules of the gallery

  • ·No hate speech, harassment, threats or content targeting a person or group.
  • ·No sexual content involving minors, and no illegal or dangerous content of any kind.
  • ·No uploading music you do not have the rights to, and no re-uploading someone else’s song as your own.
  • ·No spam, scams, or misleading titles and artist names.
  • ·Keep titles, lyrics and artwork suitable for a public space.

Content that breaks these rules can be removed, and accounts that keep breaking them can lose access.

No tolerance for objectionable content

MashKey has no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive users. Content that breaks the rules above comes down, and the account that posted it can be closed. Reports are read by a person, and reports of objectionable content are acted on within 24 hours.

Every song, track and public page can be reported from where it appears — the flag on it — and the same form blocks the creator, which hides their work from you everywhere in MashKey. You can undo that any time in Settings → Blocked creators. If something has to come down straight away, email support@mashkey.com.

Copyright reports and takedowns

If something in the gallery uses your work without permission, or breaks these rules, use the report form. Reports reach the app owner only.

  1. Report the item — the flag on a song page, a gallery card, or the button below.
  2. Block the creator from the same form if you never want to see their work again. Blocked creators are hidden from you everywhere; manage the list in Settings → Blocked creators.
  3. Say what the problem is: which work is yours, where it is being used, and how to reach you.
  4. The item can be hidden while it is reviewed, and the person who posted it is told why.
  5. If the report was mistaken, the poster can reply with an explanation and the item goes back up.
  6. Accounts that repeatedly post infringing material lose access.

You can also send a formal notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) to our designated agent: DMCA Agent, Sthetic Creative Group, LLC, 7533 S Center View Ct #6340, West Jordan, UT 84084, USA, dmca@mashkey.com. Include your signature, the work you own, where the infringing song or track is in MashKey, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them. If your song was taken down by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address.

Knowingly filing a false report is itself a breach of these terms. Take advice before you file if you are unsure whether your rights are affected.

Your data

What MashKey collects, why, who processes it, how long we keep it and how to delete your account and everything in it are all in the Privacy Policy — one page, written to be read.

For a copy of your data or any other privacy request, email privacy@mashkey.com from the address on your account.

Support tickets and the help assistant

What a support ticket keeps, how the AI help assistant is fed its answers (only your question and the matching help articles, never your account or songs), and how long any of it is kept are set out in the Privacy Policy. You can always reach a person instead: see all the ways to get help.

Cookies & Google Analytics

Nothing is tracked until you press Accept analytics: until then Google Analytics is not loaded at all, and advertising features, Google signals and ad personalization stay off. What each cookie is, why it is set and how long it lasts is listed in the Cookie Policy, and what the analytics actually collect is set out in the Privacy Policy. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner or Settings.

Service providers

MashKey runs on Base44 (Wix.com Ltd.) — hosting, database, sign-in, file storage, realtime jam rooms, support tickets, the help assistant and the AI coaches — with AI model providers behind the AI features and Google LLC behind analytics (only after you consent), web fonts and sign-in. The full list, and where each company is, is in the Privacy Policy.

Age

MashKey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. You must be at least 13 to create an account, and old enough to consent to this kind of processing where you live; if you are below that age but 13 or older, use MashKey only with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@mashkey.com and we will delete it.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, agreeing to the optional extras — analytics and the AI coaches — is something you can only do yourself from 16. If you are 13 to 15 there, those stay off until a parent or guardian agrees, and the app asks for that agreement before switching them on.

Contact point (EU Digital Services Act)

Our single point of contact for users — and for the authorities of the EU Member States, the European Commission and the Board — is support@mashkey.com, in English. Use it for anything these terms cover, including reports about content in the gallery, which are handled as set out above.

That is also where you reach a person at MashKey when an automated answer does not help.

These terms can change as the app does. If a change matters — for example in how your releases are used — you will see it here, and continuing to release songs means you accept the new version.
